PolyMirae achieved a meaningful record of 3 million man-hour without accidents on March 10th, 2020.

The record of 3 million man-hour without accidents is a more meaningful achievement as it happend after PolyMirae have safely completed two major maintenance tasks and other minor tasks since October, 2017 when PolyMirae achieved 2 million man-hour.

The record has more impact on LYB, the parent company of PolyMirae because the record of man-hour of LYB includes all the accidents that occur in the PolyMirae workplace in its injury record. This is the fruits of efforts of all the executives and employees who have consistently adhered to the safety policy "Safety Perfection, Without Exceptions!", and PolyMirae has made numerous achievements by making safety a way of life and considering safety their top priority.

"We will continue to maintain a mature and open safety culture to achieve 100 percent injury-free," PolyMirae said.

BangHyun Kim, Vice President of PolyMirae, was appointed as CEO/President of PolyMirae on February 28.

President BangHyun Kim has developed his leadership through experiences in a wide range of fields such as production, procurement, logistics, business management, sales and marketing. As a director in Sales and Marketing and formerly director in Manufacturing, he has made a great contribution to the success and innovation of the PolyMirae. "Based on my experiences in PolyMirae and polypropylene industries, I will faithfully play my role as a leader in resolving pending issues that we are currently facing," said President BangHyun Kim.

PolyMirae moved its headquarter from Eusu Holdings Building in Yeouido to the 17th floor of the Three IFC Building in Yeouido on Feb. 1st.

PolyMirae decided to relocate its headquarter to secure more spaces like conference rooms, rest rooms, and multi-purpose rooms for training and communication due to the company's growth and additions of personnel. The relocation to the Three IFC building was decided in consideration of accessibility to public transportation, building facilities, safety and surrounding amenities.
It is expected that the relocation and expansion of the office will be creating a more pleasant working environment and increasing work efficiency.

PolyMirae CEO Martino Gabellich delivered a keynote speech at the Asia Pacific Responsible Care Conference, held on November 7 and 8 in Seoul, South Korea. The Conference has been hosted this year by the Korean Responsible Care Council.

He said “Responsible Care has offered a unified and successful approach to several issues and has allowed the industry to make significant advances since its launch and to establish a continuous improvement culture. It can help our industry also in the future, to share and adopt best practices, beyond the legislative and compliance base line. I believe Responsible Care, as a voluntary and proactive initiative, can also help to achieve some of the UN Sustainable Development GOALS, for the benefit of all of us and of our next generations”.

The Conference was attended by more than 250 industry members and featured over thirty speakers and numerous interactive panel discussions.

PolyMirae held the 2nd Best Supplier Award event on 6th November, after the first event held in 2016.

Eight suppliers  have been selected this year, within the categories raw materials & feedstocks , chemicals & additives, packaging,

equipments and services, considering for the evaluation of their performance the period from 2016 to 2018.

Through this event, PolyMirae management and employees, express recognition to suppliers who have provided high quality products and services,

have contributed to the company’s innovation and growth projects and as well have demonstrated a strong partnership along all the considered period .

A groundbreaking ceremony for UPP (Ulsan PP Co.) new plant was held in Ulsan on October 22nd,2019.
Local authorities and guests from the different stakeholder companies participated in this ceremony, such as Song Cheol Ho (Ulsan Mayor), Hwang Se-young (Chairman of Ulsan metropolitan council), Jeon Young-do (President of Ulsan KCCI), Kim Sang-Woo (Vice Chairman of DIC), Yoon Byung-Suk (President of SK Gas), Fahad Al Matrafi (CEO of Advanced Petrochemical ), Jean Gadbois (Senior vice president of LyondellBasell), Kim Chul-Jin (CEO SK Advanced) and Martino Gabellich (President and CEO of PolyMirae).
“This groundbreaking ceremony is a very meaningful moment for UPP, and we want to make a positive contribution to the economy of Ulsan, including Ulsan new port, by increasing employment of local communities and activating related business”, Joseph Hoinkis (CEO of UPP) said.
UPP, a JV between PolyMirae and SK Advanced, is building a new 400.000 t/y PP plant, with start-up planned for May 2021.
