The Accident Free campaign is to prevent the same kinds of accidents from reoccurring by selecting and emphasizing a theme every month and to achieve an accident free workplace. We achieved a monumental 10 times (3000 days) record through prevention activities such as Safety Day activities, the CCG (Care, Caution, Green) project, One Point Danger Prediction training, near-miss accident and Stop Card activities. PolyMirae will not be satisfied with those activities, and will make a habit of working safely and following safety regulations to continually improve upon environmental safety. All our employees will strive to achieve a forward-looking accident free workplace.
The 2nd Wednesday of every month is a monthly safety inspection day. Employees from each specialty area take an oath of 11 safety regulations and identify all the potential problems pertinent to health, safety, and the environment at the corresponding workplace. Problems that have been addressed here are traced until they are resolved.
Safety design experts from worldwide LBI groups inspect the safety equipment and facilities of all workplaces for 2 weeks every 4 years. Inspection results are managed by the LBI's HSE Audit group.
PolyMirae has intensively addressed and reviewed all the environmental, health and safety related issues in every nook and cranny of the plant through in-depth auditing and discussions with the HSE TFT (Task Force Team) since August 2007. Selected issues have been categorized according to the level of seriousness, and corrective actions have been taken. Therefore environmental, health and safety related issues have been improved upon extensively.
This activity is designed to prevent near-miss accidents and potential hazards. When unsafe behavior, insufficient safety measures or the use of incorrect tools are found, the corresponding task is stopped for corrections and to remove any causes of accidents. This is called a STOP activity. The Near-miss Report is designed to prevent the same kinds of accidents by analyzing any near-miss accidents, devising measures and sharing them with all employees. In addition, we are systematizing safety activities by including environment, health and safety suggestions in the suggestion system for continual safety.
PolyMirae has been practicing safety management through the sincere execution of the PSM (SMS) or Process Safety Management system. We have also been carrying out annual internal audits on RC (Responsible care) and SEQMS31001 (ISO9001, ISO14001. OHSAS18001), and have been improving on identified problems.
Moreover, through a knowledge exchange with LBI, PolyMirae shares HSE related information and accident cases through training sessions, and performs effective and specialized prevention activities.
